I'd be more worried about water getting into the electronics and shorting things out. That could result in quite a ride.

Maybe we were just lucky. On our last two trailers it had a rocker switches for the 12v landing gear, & on one for the stabilizers. Never had them messed with in 18 years. Never even thought about it. Guess I had other things to stress over.

Might be fun though - for a little bit....

I personally would not buy an RV that had the controls on the outside. I like to keep things secure (and may go overboard). All chairs put inside at night, bikes locked, EMS locked to the pole, etc.

I guess that's the result of 40, or so, years of traveling: a certain amount of complacency. Assuming the best of people instead of expecting the worse. Traveling with pop-ups will make you not even aware that "secure" is a word.

Hidden cut off switch is more important for theft reasons when you leave the camper than a kid playing with it at night in my thoughts. If you can't move the legs it's pretty hard to hook up and take your 5th wheel camper.

I added a power tongue jack to our old travel trailer, had a buddy come over early one morning and pressed one of the buttons, scared the crap out of us, he thought it was funny . . . . . so now about once a year I do it to him . . . .

I’m not sure what you mean by the outside. My 295RL has the levelling controls just inside the basement door, across from the Nautilus. I just keep my bay doors locked at night or when I’m not around.

On our Momentum, those controls are behind a locked panel along with water, dump valves, pump switch. Only propane is accessible.
