Heading out next week
Connie and I are taking off next week for a 4 week RV trip if we get our rig out of the shop for brake repairs. We are asking for your RV park suggestions for the following areas. Zion, Canyon lands and Arches national parks in Utah. Mt Rushmore in South Dakota. Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Cody in Wyoming, Craters of the Moon in Idaho. We look forward to hearing you. This will be our first extended trip since we retired and hope to become more seasoned travelers over time. We hope to see you on the road.

We hit some of those place recently. For Mt. Rushmore, we stayed in Hill City. The campground is the The Black Hills Trailside RV Resort. Relatively new park, so the tree are still babies, but very nice. Request site 10 if you decide to stay there TRUST ME!
When we left there, we went south through Colorado and stayed in Central City at the Central City KOA. West Denver they called it. BEAUTIFUL location for an RV Park. It's a little fun getting back in there, but worth it. We traveled west through the tunnels, and ended up near Arches. We stayed in Moab. Beautiful area. We stayed at the KOA there. Only reason for this was we were originally going to stay in Bluff, but we had a lot of bad weather coming out of Colorado in to Utah and put us way behind schedule. The KOA was ok, but it looked like there were some other nice places.
As a note, with exception to Hill City (we were there for a family reunion), our stays were only 1 night. Would definitely would have liked to spent more time in Central City and Moab. We did the quick tour through Arches, but definitely would go back to make a longer tour of it.Curtis, Christine, Cole, and Charlotte

You're going to some of our favorite places! Sounds like a great trip. I'll contribute a couple of our favorites.
We always stay at the Zion Canyon Campground. There is a fancy "resort" style RV park much further from the park that a lot of folks like but you can't beat this CG for proximity to the park. http://www.zioncamp.com/locations/ut...national-park/
For the Grand Tetons we love to stay at Gros Ventre Campground just outside of the awesome town of Jackson. We've had a moose cow and her calf walk right through our campsite. Fabulous views. http://www.gtlc.com/lodging/gtlc-cam...os-ventre.aspx
Good luck and have fun!!Paul "Poppy" and Deb Cervone

Steve and Connie - Ginnie and I visited several of those places earlier this summer. For Grand Teton, we stayed at the Headwaters at Flagg Ranch RV park. It was a little pricey at $69.00 but it was a great location. It's only two miles below the south entrance to Yellowstone. That makes it easy to visit either Grand Teton or Yellowstone national parks. It's in a remote area, and there is quite a bit of wildlife around there. They have a fuel station (including diesel), restaurant and store on the grounds.
Here's a link to their site:

It's sure beautiful country. Here's a picture I took of the Tetons a few miles south of the campground:

Great trips coming up. In Cody stay at the Ponderosa RV park. Make sure to visit the Buffalo Bill museum, that will take the better part of 2 days. The Irma hotel is interesting and the Dug Up Gun Museum is a must and few people know about it. We have stayed in the Colter Bay campground in years past, sites are to small for our 337.
In South Dakota in Spearfish is the city park. Great place to stay and there is a historic fish hatchery in at the park. You can drive to Mt. Rushmore for the day and that is a must. There is a train that goes from Deadwood to Hill City-worth doing. Take the drive thru the Black Hills, really worth it.

In 2012, we stayed at the following locations and were pleased with them all. Now, based on my experience RVing so far, there are tons of options that would be pretty awesome and generally we are pleased with most places. Still, here is where we stayed:
Colter Bay Park(Tetons): Small, but nice and very close to attractions.
Stockade CG (Black Hills/Custer State Park/Needles Hwy/Rushmore): You are in the middle of it all here. Beautiful, but only water/electric. Several parks like this one in Custer State Park.
Wapiti CG (West of Cody 30 miles): Electric and water at entrance to CG. Most majestic views of anywhere we have ever stayed. Right on the Shoshone River with towering cliffs from the Absaroka volcanic mud flow tower above the campground. Rustic however. We used our ATB card here.
Grizzly RV Park (West Yellowstone): Higher end, well manicured, beautiful RV park. Great to see Yellowstone from.
We depart on a similar journey on the 18th! Have fun brother.
