Imagine 2800BH Brakes completely lock up when going in reverse
Greetings! Today we unearthed our 2800BH from its Covid cocoon… We should have been out on the road the whole time, but other parts of life got in the way.
In any case, besides some major detailing, clean up and general maintenance all appeared to be well. We were able to back it out of the lot where it was stored and down the street to top off the tires and then we drove 15 miles to a lot very close to our home where I plan to get it back into shape.
Unfortunately while trying to get the trailer into position on the close to home lot, the first time I put it in reverse after the 15 mile trip, the breaks completely lock up. Like where I’d be digging a hole with the truck if I wasn’t careful.
I tried cleaning the plug and the socket. I tried with the plug disconnected. I can’t seem to find any sort of break override information. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the issue or how to override the breaks in reverse?
I’ve got my truck stuck in the back corner of the lot now…… blocked in by trees on two sides and other trailers on the other side…
Thanks for any ideas you might have…
Cheers,
Alex

If it is an electrical issue disconnect the truck and unhook the battery. It sounds mechanical though

Yes - probably…. We’ve run out of forward space to roll. And it went ok in reverse when we first hooked up, before we drove 15 miles with it.

Ok… I didn’t try disconnecting the trailer battery when I disconnected from the truck. I’ll try that tomorrow.

Check the breakaway switch, it might have gotten pulled by accident when you started to back up.
