    Omaha to Peoria?

Is I 80 the best route or is there a shortcut? Pulling a 36 ft. fiver.

There might be some backroads you could take but I would stick to the interstate personally. I-80 to I-74, assuming you mean Peoria, IL.

So far this year our experiences on the interstates have been less than stellar. Traffic, traffic, traffic. Too many trucks, and traffic backups at every large-ish city. I-70 wasn't too bad, but when we got further south, it was horrible. We had a few times where the traffic just came to a stop, when it finally got going there was no reason to be seen. Nashville was awful, but Chattanooga was gawd-awful, we probably lost two hours to back-ups and we only traveled about 260 miles. I-80 may not be too bad, and it is the most direct route, but it really depends on your personal driving style. US-34 goes straight across the state, but lots of small towns.

Scenic route is 34 all the way across to Galesburg then 74. Beautiful drive if you have time and don mind 2 lane roads and the little towns. But that was 20 years ago.
