    grey tank modification

I own a 2015 GD Reflection 313RLTS, Travel trailer. I have two grey tanks for a total of 75 gallons. I just found out that grey tank #2 holds all the water from kitchen, shower & bathroom sink. And Grey tank #1 holds all water from just the clothes washer. My question is… Is it possible to modify my rig to have the kitchen drain into tank two and the bathroom & washer drain into tank one? If so what would be involved and how hard of a task would this be. We don’t have a washer as of yet so we would like to have max grey tank capacity. When we do purchased the washer it would only be used at sites with full hook ups so holding tank capacity wouldn’t be an issue.
Thank you in advance for any help on this matter.

There is a valve that you put on at the dump outlet. you put it on and close it and then open both gray valves and you will have both tanks fill together. Cant remember the name of the valve. Don I will look and get back to you. It is called a Twist on sewer valve.

I think I know what you are talking about with the valve you mentioned. But when I took my trailer into the dealer the only thing that is piped into grey tank #1 is the clothes washer. The bathroom and kitchen are all piped into grey tank #2. I hope I am not missing anything with what you are mentioning. Thank you for your input and please give me more. We really want to max our grey tank holding.

Tony - Do both of your gray tanks exit through the same pipe? If so, you can use a valve on the discharge pipe to equalize the two tanks. I have one on our 337, and if one of the gray tanks gets full, I can equalize with an external valve to maximize the two tanks. Here's a link to the valve, and below that are instructions on how to use the valve.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o01_s00

    Instructions for use:

    1. Install the Valtera valve on the discharge pipe for your waste system.
    2. Make sure all drain valves for the two gray tanks and one black tank are closed.
    3. When one of your gray tanks indicates it's near full, perform the following:
    a. Make sure the Valtera valve is closed.
    b. Open both gray tanks to allow the contents to equalize.
    c. Close the valves for both gray tanks.
    4. Repeat step 3 if needed.
    5. Once both gray tanks or the black tank are full, you'll have to dump.
    6. Make sure the trailer and Valtera valves are closed.
    7. Hook up your sewer line "stinky slinky".
    8. Open the Valtera valve to drain the contents between the trailer valves and the discharge pipes. Leave the Valtera valve open.
    9. Drain the black tank by pulling the black tank trailer valve. Flush if capable, and close the black tank trailer valve.
    10. Open the two gray tank valves and allow the tanks to completely drain.
    11. Close the gray tank valves, and close the Valtera valve.
    12. Remove, rinse and store the stinky slinky and you're good to go.

This method will allow you to use the full capacity of both gray tanks without having to replumb anything. Now, I'm not completely familiar with your rig. If you have more than one discharge pipes, these instructions may not apply, and you'll have to figure out how to replumb it.

On our 337, our kitchen gray tank always fills before the other. By using the Valtera valve, I can use the full capacity of both gray tanks.

Awesome!!! Thanks so much for the great info. I will have to drop the underbelly panel to see if the tanks drain totally separate or not. Reading your directions it would make sense that mine drains the same way as your rig.

    Thanks again so much.

Tony, no need to drop the underbelly unless you have two different pipes for dumping. If you have only one, then the instructions will work for you.

I only have one dump handle for the grey & black tanks under the belly. I have one handle for grey up in the "control" panel area of the front pass through storage with all the H20 controls, cable etc. I am so glad to hear this simple answer to what I thought was a very big problem! Thanks again for all the assistance, it's greatly appreciated.

    Jim,

We just bought a 337... do the kitchen and bathroom drain into separate gray tanks or both into one with the other gray tank plumbed only for the W/D hookups?

Rob - on the 337, the kitchen drains into one tank. the shower, bathroom sink and washing machine drain go into the other. I always seem to fill up the kitchen sink first, so I use the procedure above to equalize so I don't have to move to dump when I'm dry camping.
