    399TH Vs 397TH-R

Hi guys and gals, looking to jump into a TH and these are the two models we like the most (410 is nice but too new and no pre owned available). Wondering if some owners could chime in with the reasons they chose their units.

    399TH pros:

-Patio space, feels very open and let a lot of light into trailer, feels roomier in the living room/kitchen

    Cons:

North/south bed, we love the east/west beds they just give you so much more room. Not a huge fan of the bathroom set up as far as a second entry.

    397TH-R Pros:

-Love the bedroom configuration and the older style bathrooms with no second entry

Cons: Less roomy in the kitchen/living area.

We had a 399 for while and lived in it for 3 years. My biggest complaint is the inability to access the main bath and bedroom with the slides in. I would say that was one of our main reasons to sell it, and having used it enough on the road, it was enough to not even consider another floorplan with the bedroom stairs on the street side.

We considered the 397 instead of our current 398, our biggest dislike was the garage. We have 4 kids and would have to make something custom for them to all fit (I had to do the same in our 399). With the 398, the 18' garage gives me a lot more flexibility.

Give us a few weeks and I'll follow up with you. Just picked up our new 397TH-R Friday afternoon. Spent all weekend cleaning, configuring, etc and will be out for a 4 day weekend starting Thursday. We traded in a 351 that overall we were very happy with. Retirement is on the very near horizon and we plan on doubling our 80+ nights a year out. This put us on the search for a new rig and after a trip to Tampa, Luxe and the GD factory, we settled on the 397. I am very optimistic it'll be a great unit for us. The initial experience has been good. I thought the unit arrived at the dealer cleaner, with less screws, trash, etc lying about than our 351. The dealer did a very nice prep job and I did a thorough PDI. Everything looks to be in order at this point - knock on wood!Click image for larger version.

Yes I would appreciate it. Love the 10th paint and how does it feels behind the Chevy. I just ordered a 24' 3500 DRW to pull my next unit.

Thanks, I'm happy with the FBP! I upgraded to this Chevy from a '19 Chevy drw. While the power plant is the same, the transmission is now 10 speed. That, along with whatever other modifications Chevy made seem to make a huge difference. While my '19 was great, I feel like this tows, shifts and handles really well. We upgraded to the 8k axles and disc brakes on the 397 and I had the Sumo Springs installed by the dealer. Keep in mind we've only towed it home at this point, perhaps an hour of driving, but I thought it already felt better than our 351. Less bounce, better stopping, etc.

i like them both except the drop frame reduces ground clearance, and we needed a larger garage. so for us, the 398 fixed both of those issues.

We have had our rig for 6 years and we love it. When on the road we can get to bedroom, bathroom and fridge with the slides in. Makes traveling great with kids.

We full time in our 397TH-R, we looked at the 399, but when you could not open the side patio it really closed off the living room in our minds. We haul a golf cart and when we stay anywhere for more the 2 days it's out and we use the garage for living space. Love how much light is let in, both by the garage with the patio down and the window in the main part of the coach.

We went with the 397TH. We narrowed it down to the 399,395, and 397.
I wasn't a big fan (my wife was) of the 399 because if the patio was up it felt dark and closed up and most camp grounds have a decent patio pad. So far no regrets in not getting it.
We both liked the inside of the 395, but I wasn't a fan of the outside storage. Have since seen people move the walls to gain more space and since we aren't full time and storage is not as important it might have beat out our 397 in hind sight.
Our 397 overall is nice, no regrets. I like I can get to the bathroom and frig with both slides in. Outside storage is great, almost to much for us as I keep buying crap to put in it.
