good (and lucky) get it in as far as possible and secure it with a screw. check the other side for a screw.if it doesn't have one, ignore my previous advice and install one. since your spine is not 1 piece. both sides will need securing.my guess is it already has a screw.

I need to put a screw on each end or stake the track to retain it.

    do not stake it
that will make it harder at new fabric time

10 seconds with a Dremel or a file to take care of that.
With a stake, there is no screw to fall out. That's most likely the method I am going to use as long as I can get a punch to the right spot.

Funny I should run across this thread without searching for it....our 2022 is doing exactly the same thing. I haven't run that awning out more than 5 or 6 times, but there is probably 2 feet hanging out. We are still under warranty, so will contact GD about it.

Our 2022 260RD has the same issue-although ours is only out about 2" so far. There isn't a screw on the other end.

Any suggestion on how to get the right size screw? I'm guessing if it's too big that will ruin the spine and track it's in.

And are you thinking one end should remain unsecured, or should I get screws into both ends?

Thanks! Your participation and assistance on the forum are invaluable!!

It is just a standard sheet metal screw with a 1/4" hex head. You really want the screw to just catch the side of the spine.
As for one or two screws, it depends on if your spine is one piece like it should be, or two pieces like the OPs
Can you see it on both sides? If so then try moving the side that is sticking out while someone watches the other side for movement

I ended up putting a screw in. I think it was a #6 round head sheet metal screw about 1/2 or 3/8 inch long.

Contacted GD customer service, they forwarded to Lippert (this is a Solera awning). Lippert requested more pics, then authorized 1.5 hrs labor to install and are supposed to be sending new awning fabric directly to me. I'll get a mobile tech to come out and do the work; just not practical to take it in to a dealer even if I end up paying part of the labor. Don't want to deal with their scheduling, delays and excuses either!
