Refrigerator, leave it on or turn off when not using?

Our 260RD refer runs off 12v via solar/battery... I've been told to leave it running year around even when not using, do others leave theirs on all the time or shut off?

I'll need to rummage through my notes...I guess it can't hurt though it's like living in it full time using the refer.

All it will take is a few cioudy days to ruin the battery.
Unless you have elec. hookup, put it to sleep when in storage. GD says to diconnect the battery in the manual.

Who knows. Could shorten its life being used more as well
I just see it as a waste of energy if not using it

Since they don't last forever why leave it on when not using it? With the 12V you only need a few hours to get it cooled down vs 24 hrs for an absorption fridge. I have enough solar to run my 12V fridge 24/7/365 but I don't.

We leave our LP/120V fridge on from the 1st trip to the last. We do park at home and leave it plugged in. The fridge stays partially stocked all summer.

If I had a 12v fridge and only marginal solar I would not leave it on as a day or 2 of clouds could be an issue.

Yes it does waste energy but in the big picture of camping expenses it is not a real concern for me.

I turn it off when the frig is empty. The DW likes to keep stuff in there during camping season, either I plug it in or rely on solar depending on where I'm parked.
