Brakes locking up and won't let us move forward or backward
Arrrggggh! We're on our first outing with our Grand Design Transcend. Stopped on the way out of town to our destination. And when we tried to pull away from the gas pumps we couldn't move forward or backward. We've been sitting in a Kroger parking lot for 2 hours unable to move.
Ideas, Please.

Silly question, but have you checked the break-away cable? Unplugged from the truck and checked operation? Jacked up a wheel and see if it is all or just one?

it is all of the brakes that are locking. I mentioned that little breakaway cable a bit ago. It seems it is a mechanical cable. Is that all we need to do is disconnect it and reconnect it?

If the pin is out of the box all the brakes will lock up. Re-insert the pin fully in the box, That should free up the brakes. If that works try and figure out how it got pulled in the first place.
If that does not work, trace one of the black wires from the box to the junction box on the trailer frame, and disconnect only that black wire. That should take power away form the emergency disconnect switch. If this is the case, get the disconnect switch replaced as soon as possible, but it should get you down the road.2018 Reflection 150 Series 220RK 5th wheel with 6K axle upgrade. After 4 hours of trying everything, the guys finally hooked up a different vehicle to the RV... and it worked. Figured out that the problem is with our Expedition. Made no sense since we were able to pull it two times before with no problems. The Expedition gave a "Trailer Wiring Fault" or something similar for an error message. it still comes on every time we drive it. Thus, we're taking the Expedition to a dealership to have them look at it.
Thanks for your replies. And we're thankful for friends who had a spare vehicle to loan us. In the end, our first outing in our Transcend was a success. More fun to come!

The new ford trucks have something different with the trailer wiring. It is a known issue. The fault is with the Ford, not the trailer. There is some mod that needs to be done.
Edit....Sorry...the fault is where the Ford truck senses there is no trailer...not a brake issueLast edited by Scott'n'Wendy; 04-21-2023 at 05:54 AM.

This is good for educational purposes. So if you had lifted a wheel and found it wouldn't turn (which is what I would have done), the key would be to try with the umbilical plugged into the truck and with it removed. I'm not sure how long it would have taken me to realize that troubleshooting step while sitting in a parking lot. Good info.
