Payload is specific to each vehicle. It's on the yellow sticker inside the drivers door jamb. I'd guess it is less than 2500 lbs if Lariat trim or greater. The highest payload is generally in the lowest trim level. An XL for Fords. Also, air bags do not increase payload. They may mask some of the symptoms of overloading, but you will still be overloaded. Go to Towingplanner.com to more fully educate yourself on payload capacity and towing.

I think you're right, it is the transmission. I have a 2020 Ford F250 diesel w/ 40,000 miles. It does have 10 speed transmission. I'm thinking of taking it to the dealer to see if the transmission programming needs to be adjusted. Thanks

I came across the note below when reading through my owner's manual.....
