This is the roof of a camper I'm looking at, flaking off pretty much all around like this. Looks like the underlying metal is in good shape. What all is involved in replacing/resealing this type of roof? Any idea the expense? the camper has no leaks that we can find just been left outside way too long and no maint or cleaning done to the roof. This is my first post as we are shopping for a used Grand design and this appears to be an excellent candidate except for this roof deterioration.

Doing a superior roof reseal will run in the neighborhood of $3,000-$5,000. And IMO that one needs a new roof. Personally I'd walk away. There's lots of trailers out there and they're likely more that are in much better shape than this one.

Thanks guys. Only reason I would do it is because the price is really good on the unit and it’s otherwise in excellent shape. Your input is greatly appreciated!!

The shape of the roof leaves the question... What else on this trailer has been neglected from typical maintainance. Like if you open the water heater plug a bunch of sediment could be flushed out or solidified shortening the life of the water heater. A full reroof would cost 10 grand or more... I agree ,would pass on that one.

I have to agree with what the others here have said. You can use that to your advantage. You can inspect this unit with a fine tooth comb, make sure it is sound, and if you are satisfied, negotiate a lower price based on the roof issues. You may get yourself a great unit at a much reduced price.

The key here is to make sure the rest of the unit is good.

Good Luck with it, and remember, there are plenty of good units out there so if the slightest thing feels wrong, walk away.
