Best route from Rapid City to Denver
Hi everyone, we are planning a trip in August from California to Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore, then to the Grand canyon. I don't have a problem getting to Rapid city where we are planning to stay for a few days but can anyone tell me the best route from Rapid City to Denver? I don't see places for fuel or stops. Any help would be appreciated.

If it were me, I'd head southwest until I hit I-25, that will take you right into Denver. Although why you want to go to Denver is beyond me. Of course that depends on whether you want scenic, or are trying to make time.

Thanks Hoopy Frood, Thanks for responding. I forgot to mention,we're going through Denver on our way to the Grand Canyon. Just concerned about fuel, I don't see much on any of the routes that Google shows. I can probably make Cheyenne if it's not too windy or hilly, but I don't want to chance it. I don't see any Loves or anything like that.

If you head south out of Raid City until you get to US18 there is gas in Edgemont, Gas in Lusk, Gas just as you get to I25 and there are plenty of places to sop along I25. You should not have any problem, it also a very interesting drive.
