    Flat spot on tire?

I was inspecting the tires on the RV and noticed a flat spot on the left (off-door) forward tire. It is as if the tire was skidding down the road when all the others were turning. My wife drives behind the RV and would have noticed smoke coming from a skidding tire, so I doubt that was the problem (but not 100% sure.)

Is there anything else that could cause flat spots like this? Should I be concerned about this and have the tire replaced?

    Thanks

I would replace it. How old is it? Were they all replaced as a set? What brand and size?

They are on my 2022 Momentum and have around 10,000 miles on them. They are Cooper Work load range H.

Is your wife always behind you? Is it possible this happened at some point when she was elsewhere? It certainly looks like it has skidded enough to flat spot the tire. I have no idea how long that would take. Does the trailer have 8,000 lb. axles and disc brakes?

She never gets far away. In 10k miles, I suspect I was in view for 99,950 of them. The only time I would get out of sight is if I'm getting onto the highway and she gets held up. In those cases, I slow way down to let her catch up.

It had 8K axles and disc brakes. Now it has MORRyde IS and the same disc brakes. That setup has about 2,500 miles on it. If it were sticking breaks, I would expect to see other flat spots on that same tire.

Well, to be honest, I don't know of anything other than a skidding tire that would cause a flat spot.

Me either. I guess the big question is, does it need to be replaced? As you can see in the pictures, there is still a lot of tread on the tire. Maybe it would be a good spare tire until I can replace it.

Kind of hard to tell from the photo, but if it's a decently sized flat spot, the tires isn't going to ride very smoothly. Using it as a spare might be the wisest choice.

I do not have the Cooper H range, but I did that last year on my Reflection with Endurance tires. Had a brake issue and kept having 1 wheel lock up. Flat spotted 2 tires to the point that they would not pass PA Safety Inspection. All in 1 lock up.
