    My CAT Scale Results

On our way out of town today I stopped at a CAT Scale to finally get some actual weights on my truck and trailer.
Several have shared their results so I decided to do the same.
I used the 'Weigh My Truck' app and it made the process very simple.

We first weighed the truck & trailer together (with the wife and I onboard and with the truck full of fuel)

I dropped the trailer and weighed just the truck alone. (again with the wife and I onboard and with the truck full of fuel)

BTW I had 25 gallons of water in the fresh water tank and both grey and black tanks were empty.

When we arrived at out camp site I plugged the results into my spreadsheet and here we are.

In a nutshell we are right at cargo capacity and near the GVWR of the trailer. The trailer's weight surprised me a little. Didn't think we carried that much but numbers don't lie.

Thank you to all who previously encouraged me to hit the scales for the actual numbers.

I hope these results are helpful in some way.

    Safe travels!

    My CAT Scale Results

Your truck is extremely overloaded from what I see

That is the issue with 3/4 ton trucks with Diesel engines They don’t have much payload
You only have 1460 lbs payload not 2196 that you are using in calculating

Your calculations have you at 600 lbs overweight

Pretty simple math reveals, as NB stated, you're truck is overloaded by 600 lbs. GVWR = 10,000. Actual weight on the truck by itself and no trailer....8540 lbs. Truck weight 8540 lbs PLUS Pin weight of 2060 lbs = 10,600 lbs, which is 600 lbs over the GVWR of the truck.

What's crazy is how close the front axle is. You strap a snowplow to this truck and the front axle would be over.

Also seems strange the steer axle number didn't change between weighs?

Not really that unusual, depends on where the hitch is mounted. Most don't change much.

It almost never does change much with a 5ver hooked up to the truck. I've got a CrewCab diesel Dually and a 20,000 lb GVWR Momentum that puts down just under 4000 lbs of pin weight on the truck....front axle weight changed like 40 lbs between no trailer and trailer hooked up.

I wouldn't expect it to change as much as it would with a TT due to where the weight sits on the tow vehicle. However, I also wouldn't expect the front axle weights to be identical. Makes me think either he entered the data incorrectly or I'm reading his data wrong.

Actually, if the hitch is centered over the rear axle, it shouldn't change the front weight at all. And the small amount it may change probably is too small to register.

Likely a truck that was ordered with a "lowered GVWR" for registration purposes. It's literally just a sticker. What was the truck actually capable of if the order sheet hadn't selected the lower GVWR option?
