    Going to be that guy.

There are 5th wheels that Duramax can pull (think payload). They are not in the Solitude line. I just picked up our Reflection 150 series and am comfortable with the numbers I have to work with behind my Ram 2500 gasser. Have yet to hit a scale as it is only a few days in but not worried.

If you own the truck seek alternate models and floor plans of trailer. If you are shopping truck and trailer most definitely go 1 ton/3500 right away. Dually need is dependent on intended use. Single rear wheel 3500’s can do a lot.

You don’t have a diesel though so you likely are well within limits
It is the diesel 3/4 tons that have very little payload

    Ready to upgrade

I get it. A 3/4 ton diesel isn’t the greatest platform. My point was more that there are other trailers that he could pull and do so safely. Some of us get too hung up on #’s.

This is true, but I think it's best to find a floor plan you like and get a truck that works for the trailer or you might not really be happy. If a different truck isn't obtainable, then I would agree, look at different trailer options.

My concern besides chucking is making sharp turns without the front of the camper hitting the rear window of my truck or hitting side rails. On a 6.6 bed do I need a sliding hitch, an Anderson hitch, or stationary hitch. The campers I liked were a Grand Design Solitude. Is chucking inherent in 5th wheels. I also read about different pin boxes to control chucking. This is all new to me so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
First, I would get a 3500. I have a F250 and I wished I would have gone up to a F350. Second, I have a Sidewinder pin box on my GD 337. I love it. Its easier to back up and I have all of my bed for storage.

A 2500 duramax will not be a fit for most solitudes...you will come up short on payload. The 2500 is more suited for a 12,500 to 14,000 pound rig like the reflections. Solitudes run from 15K to 17K.
