Slides and rain.
My first RV with a slide outs. How do you deal with the water that slides down the sides when bringing in the slides in the rain?

The slide wipers should keep the majority, or all, the water outside. We have slide toppers so not as much of an issue with water, which was the reason for the toppers in the first place.

Lots of us have been there - done that.......
Using some kind of wiper on the end of a pole helps. Pulling down on each end of the awning helps. Mostly just get out of the way and bring the slide in.
I resolved mine by not getting them on current rig.
It's always fun when one person is outside breaking camp and the other is inside pulling the slides in - inevitable the slide will come in at the same time the outside person is under them....Larry KE4DMG

You can also tilt the trailer up or down front to back prior to breaking camp to get lots of water off the slides...

Squeegee's, shamy's, and toppers are all good for removing and/or keeping water off of slides.
We always put in our slides (which have toppers) in on a dry day if possible prior to retracting. Mainly because we dont wont to climb up on the roof or use a ladder to wipe them down when trying to think of everything else before leaving a CG. Too many opportunities to miss something (else) important in our oppinion.
Rain isnt the only culprit to consider. Putting in a slide with/without a topper that may be damp from dew/humidity (or rain), can lead to mold and other issues as well. Another reason why we retract when dry.
For us, putting them in when dry, cuts down on the dampness issue, and lets us concentrate on the more important issues of prepping for our next destination and the journey getting there.Jim and Annette

Ive been slightly tilting the fifth wheel for the last ten years to allow water to drain off before retracting my slide outs.. manually lift up a bit and water runs off... then manually lower to level front to back and bring in the slide... Zero issues
