Replace tankless hot water heater with tank model?
Has anyone replaced the tankless hot water heater with a standard hot water heater? I'd like to have at least a six-gallon unit (10 would be better) that operates on 120 VAC, propane, or both at once.

As Rob mentioned, this has been discussed a few times. You'll need the space, plus you will need to run a new 120v circuit and some plumbing re-work.

Before you go too far exploring this, make sure the opening that GD made the existing water heater is wide, high, and deep enough. I'm pretty sure the water heaters with tanks are bigger in all dimensions than the tankless. There was a post here tho that said GD is making the framing large enough for either, but it the framing (aluminum framing) isn't big enough I think it will be a project killer.

Thanks. The info about the opening is the type of information I was looking for. Running a 12 ga wire and adding a breaker are expected. I also know about running the 12 vdc wire for the switches. I've even got an idea of where to put them. I'd like to add a pressure tank at the same time as this, so it will be a fairly involved project. I know that there are several gas/electric hot water heaters, so I might get lucky and find one that fits.
