    Parking at home

I have a level grass field at home to park my XLS 22MLE. Has anyone here installed Trugrid in their yard for a place to park? I would like to install something myself. Any advice?

Looks like a decent idea for parking on dirt, where you could run into issues with mud, and subsequent problems pulling the trailer out. You wouldn't have to put it down, except where the tires go. Beat the heck out of having to have ruts dug in the yard while trying to move the trailer. JMO of course.

A few years ago, we built an all green Data Center. Reusing warm air discharged from the servers to heat the rest of the building, the almighty Kioto wheels to cool, rain water for the toilets, etc... for the parking lot, they used gravel and the product you mentioned. After a few years of use and plowing in the winter, they're still there. I guess you'll still need a good packing underneath them.

I made a pad beside the house using asphalt millings. Cheap and effective.

Had a concrete side drive and pad poured several years ago. Live on a cul-de-sac, so have to pull around and go up some incline drive to wrap it around the house. But it holds our 22MLE and F-250 crew cab ok........

Not knowing how big a pad or how it accessed....

I'd just run some 4" deep gravel pads about 18" wide spaced for my truck and RV wheels to track on. That's what I did. If the area under the RV turns to mush since nothing will grow if the RV is parked there a lot, maybe just gravel the whole pad area.

It seems that gravel is necessary anyway so why not just use it and save a few dollars. Or can those Trugrid things just be laid on top of grass/dirt? From what I read in the link someone provided it seems some sort of underlayment is required for any amount of vehicle weight.

I'm trying to find out whether an underlayment is necessary. The manufacturer, TrueGrid, says it can be put directly on grass then pushed in to the ground.

My neighbor who lives behind us told me once that the ideal is on concrete, garaged. So, not really the most realistic however. He owned an automotive repair business, a couple of travel trailers and 5th wheels, taking one to Alaska. He said that if it's outside moisture going to get up into the frame, etc. So whatever you can do to keep moisture wicking up into the rv. Concrete is ok, then asphalt....on grass with no barrier the worst.
