    Torque Wrench?

We're always diligent about checking tire pressure before pulling out, but we've never carried a torque wrench to check our tire lug nuts.
Does someone have a model of wrench that's effective yet small and inexpensive they can recommend we carry in our toolbox?

Depends on the torque range you need. You can a decent torque wrench at Harbor Freight, just find the one that will do the job. This is a consideration: https://www.harborfreight.com/12-in-...nch-58628.html.

That is really too big. 3/4" drive, so the socket is going to cost more than a 1/2" drive one. And with an adjustable, you really want the torque you're going to use to be toward the middle of the range of the wrench. But it also depends on what torque setting the OP is needing.

Nothing wrong with checking lug nut torque, but do you check the lug nut torque on your truck every time you go somewhere?

As far as torque wrenches, I use the Husky brand from Home Depot, they are usually on sale around black Friday timeframe. I have the 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" depending what I'm doing.

I agree with @FT4NOW, I'll check the twice after I've removed the tire over a few hundred km. After that I'll check just before a trip. That's it.

Harbor Freight. I got the 1/2 drive. Not perfect but good enough for lug nuts and hitch nuts
