    Tires and possible grease

    Hi everyone,
I noticed that side the rim of the tire there appears to be some grease I'm assuming. I've attached some pictures. Do I need to be concerned? I just noticed this and it appears that only one tire is like that.

    Thanks in advance.

I have this also after a 1600 mile trip to Colorado and back. I have a 323BHS with less than 2500 miles. From what I've been reading thinking its the grease turning to oil.

Looking at the pictures, you have a grease seal failure. There appears to be a lot more sparyed grease on the inside of the wheels. You'll need to remove the wheels and drums and see what the brake shoes and magnet looks like.

Thanks for the info. Should This be something I fix immediately at a dealer where I am or could it wait until I get home tomorrow. It's about a 400 mile trip.
Could this cause the tire to seize ?
    Thanks.

I am going to check all the other ones again thoroughly. But I had only noticed the one.

I would guess that you'd be OK getting home if it's just the one wheel. You might have little to no braking power on that tire if the grease has got onto the brake pads. You don't happen to have have an IR temperature sensor with you ? You can use that to check the temp. of the wheels. You'll know if the wheel with the bad seal and the bearings are going by comparing the temp. from the other wheels to the bad one. If the temp. is significantly higher on the bad wheel then you'll need to get the wheel serviced. But again, you'll probaly be all right getting it home.

Look behind each tire when you look. That's where most of the leaking grease will be. They're bad seals. Also, at about 25 mph, apply the trailer brakes manually. If you get some braking, I'd think you are ok just long enough to get home. If no brakes, go at risk or get to a dealership. Best wishes to you.

Thanks. I did notice a little bit of grease in the other 3 tires as well.

Might be a little hard to see but there is some in there as well. The 3 aren't as bad as that one is. When we got the trailer, the dealer said when doing there PDI, that there was a break issue and they fixed it before we picked it up.

Thanks everyone for the help. Very much appreciated.
