    Door Latch Modification

We met up with my brother in-law and his wife - heading to Northern California this weekend for a week of camping. They have a 2022 Reflection 280RS 150 Series that they bought from the same dealer we did a couple months later.

I noticed them struggling to close the door - slamming it. Since I had already remedied the slamming door issue on our 303RLS, I offered to walk him through it while I video taped it. Below is a link to that video. Please note - I never travel without locking the deadbolt on the trailer. While I am 100% confident that this modification is safe, please consult a professional before trying this at home.

Nice job! I've seen many folks slamming their doors, this could help.

I'll be making that mod to my 303RLS on Monday. Thanks for the video.

I do have one question. What is that long stick thingy that your brother-in-law keeps using to turn the screws?

He’s a little old school I guess - had to fast forward to keep the video under an hour.

I sprayed copious WD40 into my lock, and no longer have to slam the door. Might give this a try before going to the lengths shown in the video.

I never had problems with my door closing, but I am going to check to ensure the plate isn't in backwards!

Certainly worth a try before going to extremes. I tried a number of different spray lubes. They all seemed to be relatively successful for a short period of time.

I still hit the latch and strike plate with the dry lube about once a month just to keep it working smoothly.

Just completed this quick mod. Extremely easy. First took off the door lock/handle mechanism. Opened it and sprayed WD-40 Quick Dry Silicone spay over all the moving parts. Put the mechanism back in place.
This did help quite a bit but the door still took a lot of effort to close. Still needed to flick the handle while closing the door to get it to latch. Took it back off and cut the spring about 1-1/2 loops. Reassembled everything. Closes easily with one finger. No play in the latch mechanism. Thanks for the advise.
