Under bed access....now I've done it!

The under the bed storage is great, just not the access so much. As with our previous trailer, a Salem Hemisphere 232IS, it had a similar set up. I cut and put in hinged doors for access on each side of the platform because access was not as available from the front. On the 22MLE I'm going in from the front and putting in a couple of sliding doors....
When you've got a 7-8-9 inch mattress the hydraulic option is a little cumbersome....

I think I'd rather lift the bed than get down on my knees to try and find something way at the back.

My old knees wouldn't like that. But I can see the issue....

It looks like the bed platform should open up more too (bed platform should go higher).

P.S. - fixed the orientation of the photo for you....

Thanks traveldawg! I don't know why my photos do that ??? You can still access by lifting bed if you want....just an option. We will put extra sheets,
bed covers, etc. stuff that you don't need everyday, but also 12-pack soda, beer so you're not taking up room somewhere else. I'll post update pics providing everything goes as planned...

Everyone's photos do that. Something about the orientation of the camera/photo when taken. It required editing the photo and then rotating it all around and saving it again. I know - it sounds dumb - but it works.

On a 50 day trip last year in our 22mle my wife’s only complaint was having to lift the bed every time she needed to access clothes stored in the under bed tray.

I made a drawer box approximately 25”x25” x 15” high, 6” drawers with full extension 100lb slides. I built the box as a complete unit without drawer faces and then removed the end piece of the bed and slid the box in place. I cut a 25”x15” section out of the end panel, re attached it and then used the cut out to dress in the box and make drawer fronts. I had to put a backer on the back of the drawer face to give it a little heft.

My wife gets a drawer and a half and I get half a drawer.

I have pics. Hopefully I can figure out how to add them.

Just a thought, but stronger lift pistons are available that would make lifting the bed a one handed operation.

Like it...!!! another good option....we've put a 10" mattress (from IKEA) on the platform LOL, so it makes that access option amore difficult.

Exactly what I had to do for mine to even stay raised without holding it. Well worth it for a real mattress!

I put a 13” pillow top from Costco in mine
I just repositioned the factory lift cylinder’s to enable them to hold it up
