If you use a rear view mirror in a car, why wouldn't you want the same capability behind the rig? It paid dividends with the all of the interstate lane closures, some of which were essentially no-notice, and with very high truck volumes.

Finally got around to mounting the booster yesterday since we keep our TT in storage. Tapped off the 12v disconnect in the belly bay, but also put in blade style quick connects as well for when at sites. Plan to source a 3 pole wago for the negative, but used a butt connector for now. I'd like to swap the quick connects out for a toggle switch at some point in the future. Still need to clean up the wires to look cleaner when time permits.

Why not just use android auto or Apple car play. I thought Garmin went out of business.

Apple Car Play does not have height, weight, length and propane avoidances.

Garmin is still very much in business. The issue with using the OEM mapping/navigation solutions on phones is that you cannot program them with the parameters of your RV and tow vehicle (combined GVWR, length, width, height, etc.). As a result, the phone apps cannot navigate you around places that would be problematic such as low overpasses, weight restricted bridges, roads restricted to vehicles over a certain length, etc. We find our Garmin RV GPS (along with RV Trip Wizard) does a very good job of keeping us out of trouble that way. There are a couple of apps (I'm only aware of Android apps, but there may be one for Apple) for professional truckers that perform the same functions as an RV/trucker GPS. Most truckers run those apps on Android tablets.

Problem with Android Auto, is it thinks everyone is driving a Yugo and will put you on roads that you really should not be on. It is not as bad on the west coast, but it can be interesting on the east coast (BTDT). Apple Car Play is a little better, but not by much. The Garmin RV works great for towing, although like mentioned, any app or stand alone GPS for truckers works.

Garmin is big in the aviation world, and has GPS systems for not only auto's, but has several different ones that are tailored for both on and off-road motorcycles.

I thought some states have laws about putting things on dashboards or hanging from mirrors. Block views and are a distraction.
