2500RL Door Open Latch Bracket Issue

Our 2500RL GD has two doors. The rear uses magnet to hold door open and the front door is held open with a flimsy bracket that hooks to the door bottom and connects to the trailer side. Both ends of this bracket has screws and the door side has stripped out. I have already gone to oversize screws but it has failed again.

Has anyone faced a similar issue and found an acceptable method for repair.

Use Olympic rivets on the door side.

It will never pull out again....without taking the door with it.

Have you used pop rivets in the situation that I have described? The door panel material itself doesn't seem rigid enough to support the pull pressure from the bracket.

Yep. I have them in my Reflection door.

Mine didn't come with any hold back, it has the friction door. But, I wanted to be able to physically hold it open. The "petals" on the rivet will open up behind the fiberglass and hold it.

This seems to be my best solution. Thanks for your suggestion.

I ordered a pack of 10 Tri-Grip rivets from Amazon and made the repairs to my door latch. I have used basic pop rivets in the past but I was not aware of the style that you mentioned. Thanks for your help. For others that find themselves needing similar type rivets here is a link-

Yep, if they don't hold, nothing will!
