Water heater doesn't work on power or gas

    Hi all

We are on our first camping trip of the season. Yesterday on shore power it seemed like our water was being heated a little but not to its usual temp. This morning it didn't seem like we had any warm water whatsoever. I tried to switch over to gas but it doesn't even attempt to light. I am aware of the panel switch that needs to be turned on for either choice While on shore power I did flip the water heater breaker off and back on. Right now I am completely unplugged from shore power. This is because I was getting shocked while standing in the wet grass and touching water heater components. I was looking at the blade fuses and none of them are labeled water heater. I have a Dometic GC6AA-10E. Any thoughts?

    Probably a thermal breaker.

From the outside, look for a transistor looking piece that is wrapped in plastic, leading to a blade terminal. Unplug from the wires and remove the thermal breaker. Plug the existing wire back onto the blade terminal. See if it works on LP now.

    Should look like this....

Also make sure you're outside faucets knobs are turned off on the Nautilus panel. If they're turned on the cold and hot water will mix without you knowing.

Removing that component worked... you are a lifesaver! Will replacing this part solve my issue when on shore power or Is that a separate problem?

It should allow the water heater to work as normal. I always keep a few of these in a "junk" drawer because you never know when they go out.

Pretty sure that when the water heater is on Electric it is using 120 and the breakers, not on 12 volt and the blade fuses.

A little update here. We got the gas to start but then we had an issue with how that worked. I made another post for that issue. https://www.mygrandrv.com/forum/show...486#post482486
