New stove top/countertop
We are removing our propane stove top/oven and replacing it with a built in induction stove top. It is smaller, so we will need to put in a new countertop. Already tried contacting GD, countertop no longer carried.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

How about framing it off with some nice finished wood, kind of like an accent edge?

I'm with @WhittleBurner - fashion a surround with a lip to support it (so it's not too high). I had to make a filler out of wood for the back of the cooktop area where the oven vent was when we removed the oven and replaced the cooktop with an induction/gas combo. In our case, the new cooktop covered the filler at the back.

I like the idea of a wood edge, but the new induction stove is much smaller (2 burner) than old propane stove. It also will be vertical, so we will need an a whole new countertop. Was thinking butcher block, but not sure how that would be near heat.

Butcher block should work. Think back to the old days when homes had pressboard counters with Formica glued to it. Back in the day and not that far back RV's had wood covered with Formica for countertops.

Also take a look at facebook marketplace in your area. You might come across a piece of Corian or other solid surface from a kitchen tear out that might fit the area and you can cut the hole to fit the stove top.

VERY nice job, Rob! I’d seen you post info on this change, but it’s nice to see the pics. How much of the cabinet face/doors did you make yourself? Or were you able to outsource some of it? Also, I’m guessing you installed a new countertop rather than modifying the old one?
