Who's tried a Thousand Trails membership?

There's a discount going on until the end of May, $150 off a single-region pass so that's $510 for the year.
The details are a little hazy on the site: https://www.thousandtrails.com/

There are several CGs on our normal routes and in our general area, and also 2 of the primary CGs we use, usually at least 1x a year, where my family lives in Florida - Venice-Sarasota area.

We pay about the yearly cost for a week in one of those Florida CGs, so wondering if it would be worth the cost even with the likely hoops. I've owned a timeshare for a long time, and that's often times a PITA to book places, but it's also worked out many times. This feels kind of like a timeshare for RVers.

For anyone who has/had a membership, what do you think?

We purchased a membership once for my wife to take a 30 day trip around some parts of CA. It was much cheaper than paying to stay at a campground each night. We are doing the same thing this year to take a 2 week trip up to Maine in the summer. We already have an active TT membership, so we only had to pay $100 to add the North East zone for our trip in the summer. I think it's worth it depending how you plan to use it, it certainly doesn't work for everywhere or everyone as most of the parks are only on the coasts or southern part of the country.

We had Thousand Trails. Used it once. What we didn't like (although this does appeal to others) was not being able to book further out. Also didn't like that when we got to the campground they said "just drive around and find a spot".

We cancelled our membership early and were refunded (pro-rated), so we didn't lose a lot.

We received a thousand trails membership for 1 year when we bought our rig in Jan. Since we were planning a 6 month trip, it was a welcome addition but not a factor in the decision. We quickly realized the campgrounds in the SE region didn't align with our plans so we paid the $90 to add additional regions. We've stayed in several over the last couple of months and are currently in one now. Based on our experience, which is limited, it feels like overall the quality of the campgrounds and staff is lacking. This is heavily weighted by the Thousand Trails in Las Vegas we were in a couple of weeks ago. The sites were tight, the laundry facilities didn't work, and other than the security at the gate, there wasn't any staff. The pool was nice, once it opened but it was closed for several days due to water quality issues. Needless to say, we won't be going back to that campground. In our current TT campground several of the electrical boxes aren't working & have been taped up with black plastic. The closest restrooms beside the pool are closed due to lack of hot water. We arrived on Sunday right before check-in time and there was a line to get in. Once we were allowed in it seemed like a free for all to get the best sites. It did build some comradery amongst those coming in which was nice to participate in & one couple was going around checking the power for those arriving to ensure knew what they were getting before getting too settled.

We've found the KOA's to generally be nicer and adhere to a standard that we like. YMMV & I suspect (hope) there are some good TT campgrounds out there but we won't be renewing the membership. If we ever go full time, we might consider it again.

We have enjoyed our TT experience over the last couple of years. If you use it, then it is definitely worth the money. We paid for it in one trip to South Lake Tahoe.

We received a one year membership when we bought our new RV. Have not used yet, but it seems that with a 60-day maximum booking window, a lot of the parks get filled up with non-TT guests before you get a chance to reserve anything.
