Hey Marcy & Gary. We are going to Mama Gerties for a week, Dec 26-Jan 2. We wanted the top tier with deck and swing, but the top is closed after Nov 1. How is the rest of campground, specifically site 23? Love the Asheville area, haven't been there in four years, looking forward to it.

We love this area too. It's a beautiful clean and well manicured campground. The man that took us to our site is very protective of the sod. Sites are spaced out ok for a private CG, but the top spots with the deck and swing are to die for and really well seperated with great views. Wish we had one but our end spots not bad, site 32. I'll walk the dog down the hill and check it out.
On edit:
I looked from above, 23 isn't too bad size wise, they look just a tad smaller than at the top and I don't think you get the view. It's a trade off, that tier is just a bit less $.
The plus side is it's more protected from winds, in the winter that can save on propane. This morning is pretty cool up on the hill with a brisk breeze.
Enjoy your visit. If you like natural food markets there is one down 70 between here and Black Mountain, in the same strip as the Goodwill store. Forgot the name....darn CRS.

Thanks Marcy. We will enjoy it I'm sure. Never a bad time in the mountains. If it is nice enough, we might go back up for Spring Break next year to get to enjoy the top tier with the decks. Thanks again for checking it out and letting us know it is a nice campground, looks good online, but that has fooled us before. Have a great finish to your trip and safe travel home.
