    Locked out!

Wonder if this has happened to anyone else. We went to put our chilled items in the fridge this morning so we could leave on our 3-day weekend trip and discovered the deadbolt lock won't work. The key will only go in the lock 1/2 way. I contact the dealership and they recommend we call a mobile locksmith and said they will reimburse me the charge.

So, here we sit, waiting, in our house for a locksmith to arrive to see what the problem is so we can get moving down the road. Only had the Reflection 303RLS for two weeks and I'm already locked out. Arrggghhh!

The deadbolt will only lock with the key from the outside, or by turning the knob on the inside.

There is no other way the deadbolt can lock.

It may be the tumblers on the handle lock...

I went around my entire new camper and lubricated all locks. I've always found that without lubrication, they can be troublesome. I try to do this once a year. Perhaps a little lubrication and working the key in and out will free it up.

We got locked out when ours was fairly new too. We sprayed it with a dry lube and kept working the key and it eventually opened and worked fine for months UNTIL one day I got locked in alone with 3 dogs who hadn't peed in about 10 hours and a broken wrist so couldn't climb out of the window, not my best morning camping for sure.

When you get it in for service and they try to convince you all is well, insist on a change of locks.

Two hours and $123 later we were able to get in with the help of a Locksmith. He had to pick the lock and said the tumblers were bad. No idea how that happened but I'll be requesting the dealership replace it with a new cylinder and key it to match the door lock.

Just happened to us last night. Just got back from dinner after being gone for 4 hrs. Key would only go in half way. Tried lubeing it. Still would not go in. It was late and we were at a state park in a small town. The dog was locked inside. I ended up taking a screw driver and pounded it into the lock and turning the cylinder. It opened. I wish GD would start using better quality components. I am going to look for a new after market lock. And also change out all the locks so I only have to have one key. Way to many issues with this less that 2. Year old unit. I don't think I will ever buy another Grand Design.

Sorry to hear it happened to you as well. The dealership replaced mine, plus Grand Design reimbursed me for the locksmith charge but I just ordered a new lock and door handle from rvlock.com. Got the v4.0 w/integrated keypad and key fob. Normally costs $239 but got it for $185. They have other models available as well. I've read good reviews on their products so I'll let it know how installation goes once it arrives.
