25 MPH Wind Proof Awning is possible

On our recent trip to Ocean Lakes electric awning lasted for less than 24 hours. I had my back turned and missed it. Wind at that point was light.Loud crash wife and kid said awning blew up several feet above roof. Auto retract did its job and retracted awning. I believe Auto Retract is by far the best line of defense. It is sold by Carefree and comes standard on higher end RVs.
I then put out my awning supports and tie downs. Pictures below.

End result was awning that did well with 15 to 20 MPH winds and gust to 25. The sad part is all campers next to me left there old awnings out and never had a issue.

Is the down force wind bad also? I assumed it was always the up force or draft.

One of the first mods I did on our 337 was a set of Busted Knuckle Awning Poles. They are self storing (on the awning arms), easy to deploy, Maintenence free, and a fairly easy install. Had our awning out in 25 / 30 MPH winds and heavy rain and they hold up great. The gentleman that builds and sells them doesn't have a website but you can search for "Busted Knuckle Awning Poles" on FB.

Is this a complete awning system or an add on device for existing awnings?

I recognize those from spending time on Forest River Forums...the work of Old Coot and Turbs...members of that forum. I bought the bracket kit and had to modify them to work with the Solera awning then made my own poles. The only issue that I've had is securely staking the tie downs in sandy soil.

I believe they were $300 but it was last spring and my memory isn't what it used to be. Although there is probably only $100 worth of material in a set, he has a clever design and i think they are well worth the cost.
