How long do you plan on keeping your Grand Design 5th wheel

Just curious what the plans many of you may have as far as how long you plan on keeping the 5th wheel you currently own. We hope to keep for many years into our retirement (20 or so from today). Is that feasible as far as wear and tear? We are first time 5th wheelers.

    Brett,

There are still trailers on the road from the 1940s and 50s. With proper maintenance, they can last decades. You may have to refurbish the interior every 20-30 years, but maybe not even then. We plan on keeping ours for another 10 years or so. By then, who knows. Our preferences may change and we might not want to tow such a big rig around. Diesel fuel and gasoline are very affordable right now, but 8-10 years from now, it may be ridiculously expensive to take long trips in the RV.

    'til our needs change.

When I'm done hauling around toys I will start search for next rig, probably a long time. Then it will be something like the Solitude 375.

We're hoping for 10 years before upgrading. The mister is pretty handy with repairs as he worked in RV manufacturing long long ago in his first job. Patience and mechanical ability is valuable when you own any RV. But 20 years might be a stretch depending on how much you use it, how it is stored, etc. We have post-retirement dreams of taking long trips with our Reflection 337 and seeing the country a bit. Not full-time, just a month here and there. Retirement is about 4 years, 5 months, 16 days and a few hours away. Not that we're counting.

Our last trailer (which we still have) is 15 years old and in very good shape, we plan to keep our Momentum for at least that long or longer. With proper maintenance your new rig should last a very long time, enjoy!

Our new Reflection is planned to be our last RV so we will keep it as long as we want to continue traveling. I'm 65 now I don't think I will still be towing around the country in 10 or 15 years but who knows. This trailer should last at least that long.
