Vegas, Grand Canyon and Sedona AZ

We'll be traveling to Vegas, Grand Canyon and possibly Sedona in a few days. Been to Vegas before, but mostly in town. Looking for good spots to visit and see in all three places. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

We were in Vegas at the end of June for our 40th anniversary. We found the "neon museum" kind of interesting. But it was so hot we had to leave the tour early. If you want to see this museum, try to get the earliest tour they have.

We didn't want an RV park in the main city areas so we decided to stay at the Clark County Shooting Facility. We were very glad we did. It's about 14 miles outside of town and it's at a higher elevation than the valley floor. They have 80 sites with full hookups including 50 amp service. They only charge $20 per night for one of these sites! The nice thing is since you're higher than the valley floor, you have a view of all the city lights. When we stayed there, there were only four other campers using the 80 sites. Here's a phone number if you want to make reservations:(702) 455-2000. (M-F 8 to 5).

Williams AZ is route 66 super cool town. Lots of rv parks. You can drive from there to the Grand Canyon. Take the shuttle around the rim if is still running. South rim is where you want to go. Sedona is spectacular scenery. Totally fancy shops and up - scale young shoppers. Do not take your 5th wheel on the road N of Sedona - very narrow

We hit all 3 of these places on a western US trip in May/June.

Flagstaff - J and H RV park - Very nice park with great owners. One of the cleanest, best run parks we have experienced. Stayed for 10 days there and did the full south rim of the GC for 5 of them. Also drove to Sedona for a couple day excursions. About 1.5 hours to either Sedona or the GC. Lots of stuff to do/see around Sedona, Flagstaff and Williams depending what your interests are.

Las Vegas - Sam's Town RV park - East side of Vegas with shuttles to the strip. If you plan on seeing any shows start looking prior to arriving there as there lots of them available and it is tough to narrow down what you want to see once you are there. Took a tour of Hoover dam and it was much cooler than I thought it would be. You can also check out a couple ghost towns that have been uncovered as Lake Mead has receded. Pretty cool stuff!
    * If you haven't seen Old town/Fremont street it is well worth a day to explore. When you get tired of the mega casinos it is refreshing to see how things were in a simpler age.
** Sam's Town RV park was okay but Jim's spot sounds soooo much better!

    Have a fine trip!

We stayed at Sam's Town RV park in July, yes, July. It was a one night stop. Nothing to write home about, but was clean and had full hook ups. As C&H mentioned, The Dam Tour is definitely pretty Dam cool. In fact, my niece and nephew (both 14 yo) who traveled with us from So. Cal. to South Dakota said that was their favorite part of the trip. Who knew?

C&H wish I knew about J&H before our trip. We stayed a the KOA. It was "Ok" but tight, with some interesting people.
