    Adding bedroom windows

Greetings, I would like to add 2 vertical side windows to our bedroom slide out on our Momentum 28G as it didn't come with them. This would give us some cross ventilation. Does anyone know what the wall thickness on the bedroom slide out is? I am thinking of installing either 12 X 22 or 12 X 24 inch vertical windows. Thank you in advance, Steve

So, two things. 1. Wall should be about 2" thick. 2. WOW! I think the last thing I would want to do in my RV is start cutting holes in the exterior walls!

I get it, though. We have one small (escape) window in our bedroom. I've said I'd love another window across the rig from it for ventilation (it gets pretty hot and stale up there). But I'd hand it off to someone who actually does that kind of work.

Steve, all it takes is money! <grin> Seriously, I think you are on the right track in looking for a qualified installer.

I would definatly tap into GD to find out what supports are in the walls before attempting anything like that.
Also, just like adding a dryer vent, cutting the inside panel first to insure all is clear, then the outside portion wouldn't be affected providing you aren't able to get r done. Also a big consideration is to make sure you are not going to affect the structural ability of the slide and create any unwanted flexing that will affect the slide in and out of the slide. Good Luck

IMO, would wonder why GD didnt cut a window in it in the first place? What structural issues could exist afterward? And, from my experience of window radiated heat, not sure I would want one. We hardly use our bedroom window in our 295RL... and usually just the one (of 2) to run a oscilating rechargeable fan to blow the air at us while we sleep in a summer overnight non-hookup rest stop.

Let us all know how it goes if you get it done.

We have opposing windows in our bedroom, and yes the cross ventilation is nice. If we need more air we turn on the MaxAir fan in the kitchen area and it pulls additional air through the bedroom windows.

We have 2 windows in our bedroom and I can't imagine living without the ventilation. That includes turning on the overhead vent fan at night and having a nearby open source for incoming cool air. That really cools the room down quickly. I do agree it may be wise to check with GD on any structural concerns. I would suggest, however, that the "qualified" technicians at a dealer may not take the same care or make the same effort that you would. I would rather do nearly any work myself. Go slow, measure twice, etc.

I would find a GD model that has windows in a slide like the 310gk and order the window assemblies and interior trim from GD. Should be a fairly easy install.
