    Lost a wheel!!!

I have a Reflection 303RLS purchased in 2020. Had the wheel bearings hand packed by the dealer in Feb. 2022. Have since been on 8 camping trips for less than 1500 miles--we are weekenders to Colorado state parks. Yesterday drove down to one of our favorites, pulled in to get water and I noted the drivers side rear wheel was missing. The bearings were bared and the fender was bent. I did not hear anything or feel anything. I was able to drive 45 miles to a RV repair site and am looking at a new axil, wheel, and fender. From what I have read could be a bearing failure or lug nuts not tightened or over tightened. I have a TPM and did not get a warning but on the drive to the service center noted that it did show a tire was not being monitored. Has anyone else had this same issue???

Well, now you know which dealer to avoid for maintenance. Depending on what brand of TPMS you have, the length of time it takes to alert with a missing sensor can vary a lot. My thought would be that if it was lug nuts too tight, or too loose, you'd be missing the wheel, but the brake hub would still be there. So my guess would be the wheel bearing "preload" was set incorrectly, probably too tight. JMO of course.

Or maybe lost or broken cotter pin. Have seen similiar results like that before too.

Yes, and calling it an issue is being nice. I had the same thing happen years ago to another toy hauler I owned. This was on Interstate 80 in Wyoming and my biggest concern is the wheel/tire/drum combo went off somewhere and could have hit another vehicle. Fortunately it was 7am on Labor Day morning and there was almost no traffic. I never did find the wheel even though I looked.

It too was from some "dealer service". I'm 90% sure it was a careless or ignorant RV tech that did the work. Since then, I bought a bearing packer, I have jackstands & a 10 ton jack, impact wrench, and tools to do my own packing.

    Sorry about your loss.

wheel or axil? the repair people are having the axil made in Denver and they said it should be ready in a week, but it is going to be very expensive i am sure. they are also packing all the bearings and from now on before every trip even the small ones we take, i am checking the torque on each tire.

That could be the picture of my coach after the wheel was lost. I also worried about the wheel causing damage to another car but it was also very light traffic. I also think it was dealer/service error, but they have sold their business to another dealer.

What it sounds like to me. Most rv's now have that metal clip to keep the bearing nut on which is held in place by the bearing cap. Could be that cap came off somehow.

Wow - if you can look at the picture I posted and figure out that it was a broken cotter pin, you're pretty darn good at diagnosis.

I wasn't talking about your picture; I was commenting on the OP who didn't provide a picture.
