    Heading toward a 27RL soon-Couple of questions?

Hello folks. My wife and I have camped for years in a smallish bumper pull camper around the western states. We've decided to take the next step and buy a fifth. We were looking for something small enough to get into some of the Colorado Forest Service campgrounds, something light enough to travel easily, and something big enough to spend a month or so in one location. We decided on a 27RL which is in the super-light series. I'm going to post a question in the TOW VEHICLE folder about trucks. Looking forward to additional postings in NEW MEMBER INTRODUCTIONS, SHOW US YOUR RIG, AND CAMPGROUNDS AND DESTINATIONS. We live in Grand Junction, Colorado and have camped in most every spot in the area so we look forward to sharing our experiences with the group. Glad to have found this site!

We love our 337 and have friends with a 27RL who are happy with their camper, too. One suggestion I would make is to verify that your 27RL furnace is designed for high elevations. There has been some question about this with the Atwood heater. I would note that the fireplace is fabulous and we survive quite nicely without the furnace in the mountains, but an operational furnace would be the best case scenario. Our Atwood performs flawlessly in the plains states. I'm thinking that the newer models have a different brand of furnace. Ours is a 2014. We went from a "smallish bumper pull camper" to the 337. Love it.

Happy 5th wheel hunting and I'm sure you'll love any Grand Design you end up with.

    Kansans:

Thanks for the tip on the heater. We're at 4500 ft here in Grand Junction but we spend a lot of time camping in the high country. I'll pay close attention at the PDI and mention it to the dealer also.

Congratulations! Just make sure you buy a Ford to pull it with or you'll be stuck on the side of the road.... Just kidding folks.

Good going! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. It may not be the Flagship of the GD Fleet but it's quality is just as impressive. I read your other post on tow vehicles. You got some sound advice from knowledgable members. Get that truck and enjoy life!

Many will tell you that you need a one ton diesel dually to tow that <10,000 lb 5th. There are other alternatives .
