    RV Video Gaming

I do a fair bit of video gaming, and have since I was a wee lad. I'm still in closing stages(hopefully this takes less than four months) of purchasing an RV, so I'm still trying to figure out if there is going to be time and/or space for gaming while I'm on the road. Well, not literally while driving, but in the evenings before bed, or when we have a couple days of downtime at a location.

I imagine I'll probably be using a laptop, or if that's not feasible, then I have a Nintendo Switch and a PlayStation Portable. If all else fails, there are still thousands of great old console games that work on a smartphone via RetroArch emulation. I've found most "mobile" games are hot garbage these days, so I tend to avoid them, generally speaking. I have a SteelSeries controller that connects to my smartphone for console emulation which came with a bracket to hold the phone directly on top of itself.

Anyway, I'd be curious to see if any of you have a gaming setup(desktop, laptop, console or otherwise) in your RV, and what form that takes for you. I have at least one friend who is a full time RV resident, and he's got a full desktop setup in his that's just always out and ready to go(but he also lives alone).

Related question: Those of you who do enjoy video gaming, what games are you into right now?

I've gotten back into Minecraft lately. I'm currently trying to play through locked on the hardest difficulty and beat the original "End" boss.

The issue is a reliable internet connection. Most campgrounds wifi is pretty terrible, most cell hotspot connections aren't reliable enough to play on line, with drop out and lag. Starlink might be okay but that is some premium $$$$ for gaming.

I play world of warships and was in a highly competitive Clan in World of Tanks called "RELIC" , think vegas Esports tournament level. Was involved in Mechwarrior league clan called "Wonka's Umpa Lumpas". I play first person shooters with my son and his friends, at nearly 60 I don't have the twitch reflexes to be competetive.

I live in a place where Starlink happens to be the superior option, but my preference is to play games with no internet connection necessary for exactly that reason. I suspect perhaps the lack of connectivity while out camping is going to be something I appreciate.

It's good to see another MechWarrior at large. I am still active in MechWarrior Online, though I'm currently on sabbatical due to aforementioned acute Minecraft addiction.

I have 3 on my laptop = Red Dead Redemption 2, MS Flight Simulator, Real Flight RC Simulator. Bring that and an old RC airplane transmitter that connects as a USB joystick. Always play them off-line, as internet just can't be used, even for email, most of the time. But after that 3rd day of rain, when it is 45F, and 30 mph winds, the indoor diversion is appreciated. Of course, there are always books and "Bonanza" or some other really old shows on what TV signal we can get. But none of that matters if we are out for only a week or two. For 3 months, some alternatives are nice.

Have a Switch that I connect to the TV. Haven’t played for a bit but like playing Skyrim, Legend of Zelda and Sniper Elite 4 when I can.

    No issues at all

This is a wonderful question because it is what I do to relax. We are full timers and I have a PS5, Xbox X and Nintendo Switch. For the Internet issue, we have Starlink and we've never been anywhere that I was not able to play games even when the Starlink signal was not the best. That said I don't stream or play online shooters preferring single player campaigns. I currently have Breath of the Wild and Starfield going and just finished Spiderman 2. For sound on the TV I have a Polk mini soundbar and subwoofer. Love it!
