    Eliminating 7 pin charge voltage

I have a 2023 Imagine 17MKE towed by a 21 Ford Ranger Tremor. I am going to add 2 Lithium batteries and a DC/DC 30 amp charger for now.

My question is, how do I find and eliminate the charging wire at the trailer from my 7 pin connection. On the Ranger all the forums seem to indicate there is not a simple way to terminate at the truck (apparently it all runs through a module). I looked at my batteries on the trailer and do not see a dedicated charge wire.

Does it all go through the main 12v buss?

What I did is go to the junction box for the 7 pin cable on the camper and disconnect it there. I put a crimp on cap on both wires and labeled them. That way, when I tow a different trailer, I still have the 12v power available.

P.s. what I thought was the 7 pin cable was the gas line. Rookie mistake.

Be careful what you disconnect. The same line that serves as the charge line may feed 12V to the breakaway switch.

The breakaway is fed from the battery on the coach. The 7 pin oy provides 12v to charge battery.

It’s the same circuit and in many cases the same wire

There has to be a means of isolating the charge wire from the 7 pin from the supply to batteries and trailer brake. If it is the same wire, then it should be possible to terminate what comes from truck hot. This will require some thought and testing. One thing for sure...I can't allow 10 or 12 gsuge wire to be charging Lithium without potential consequences

You just need to make sure you break the connection in a way that still has 12V on the breakaway when the trailer isn’t hooked to the truck.
