Just for fun... Women who drive their GD rig.. What's your level of experience?
I'll admit it, I can't drive our current FW rig completely on my own. And what I mean by that is, I can back the truck up to hook it up and I can drive it on the straight away, but I can't do everything from start to finish. I envy the women who can!
It's on my bucket list to learn all the steps necessary to hook it up to get it on the road as well as all the steps to get it operational once we reach our destination. It's always been, Martin handles the outside jobs and I handle all the inside. We have it down to a science. Lord forbid something were to happen to Martin while we were on the road and I'd be at a loss. I can drive my own Harley, so it's about time I learn this.
So ladies (and gents who want to brag on their significant other), share with us a little on your GD rig operating experiences. And any helpful tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! Roggie..

Ginnie has zero desire to get in the driver's seat when the rig is hooked up. I've asked her many times if she wants to try. We even bought an annual protection plan that if something happens to me, a driver will take the rig home for us.

^^^^ x2 Sharon has no desire. She doesn't even drive the dually when un-hooked, her spatial awareness sucks.... did I say that out loud?

Christine will drive on open highway. She pulled from Arizona border to Barstow. Refuses to drive in the city, however. She's not thrilled about having to get a non-commercial Class A when we get the 350M, but said she'll do it. We'll see.

I haven't driven ours yet either Roggie and like you I do the inside set-up or packing when we leave and he handles outside. I do help him back the truck to hitch but I want to learn it also. Our plans are to go full-time next year and God forbid something should happen to him and I would need to get somewhere else. I need to know hook-up part and at least how to drive it on the main road. I'm hoping to take one of the classes they give for this......not that I would want to do this full-time, but to give him a break etc, it would be a good idea.

Marcy does almost all of the driving. After driving for a living for a while it feels good just to sit. She even takes it out on her own on occasion, when it"s her and the women or when she goes to do a wood carving show. She doesn't even like getting in a car anymore she feels like she's in a go-cart.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the responses although the long delay in saying so. We had a bit of excitement here, had a tornado roll by our house this afternoon, and being the born and raised Kansan I am, I had to video it. So my phone has been exploding with responses after I posted it.
Good to know I'm not the only one whose been hesitant to get behind the wheel but I really do want to learn. It sounds like I need to talk with Marcy for some pointers!
Marianne, I didn't know they offered classes for this sort of thing. Something I should investigate.
Christine, I'm sure glad special designations aren't required for RV driving in our part of the country. Although Martin has a class A CDL and our daughter has a class C.

KimandChris, If your 5th wheel is over 15,000 lbs, it is a requirement in Calif.
