Definitely fish the white and Norfolk rivers in northern Arkansas. Lots of great campgrounds. You will see bald eagles as well.

Bronners is a Christmas store...plan a couple hours if you like Christmas decorating. The food is just down the road in Frankenmuth, either Zhenders or Bavarian Inn is the other, very simular and I believe owned by the same people...both have family style dinners and great baked goods.

As for camping there is no shortage of State parks in Da U.P.
our favorites are McLain on Lk MI (you can daytrip into the Keewenau Peninsula from there and the Porcupine Mtn State Park. Waterfalls all over pick up 200 waterfalls in the UP by Penrose for good description and direction

You have received wonderful suggestions. We are from WI and have spent a lot of time in Michigan. Don't miss the west coast of MI, it is beautiful with amazing beaches and delightful little beach towns. We love the state parks in MI. Lots of room and usually in the woods. The northern towns of Charlevoix, and Petoskey are wonderful. We spent a week camping in at state park near Boyne City and loved it. When we go back we will stay in a state park in Petoskey. The state park there is on the water and has wonderful wooded sites. Harbor Springs is a high end little town worth checking out if you are in the area.

If you get to the UP, take time to check out Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. A kayak guide suggested the best hike to see all the sights in Pictured Rocks and it was amazing. The hike is Mosquito River, North County, and Chapel Rock trail loop. Long but worth it. (you can make it shorter) We also took a guided kayak trip along pictured rocks from Munising and it was well worth it.

I agree with the person who said don't worry about the Mackinaw Bridge. We had no problems crossing it.

We've crossed the Mackinaw Bride 2 or 3 times...no big deal. We've enjoyed Luddington MI, stayed there about 6 weeks. Just north of there Manistee has a fun casino with a nice camp ground.

Thank you. We plan to spend 4-6 weeks in Michigan. Mackinaw Bridge- bridges don’t bother me as long as I can take my dually across, that will be my only vehicle.

Then Definately get the book, you can likely pick up a used copy off amazon. I have used it for years and not once were the bad directions or descriptions...we call it our UP Bible . They also rate difficulty of the hike. Be sure to go to the Sturgeon River Gorge and falls, 2 seperate hikes and if you can do a difficult hike the one that goes out of the Black river harbor, it takes you on the side that you cannot see from the drive in..great views.

We travel from Texas to Ann Arbor every year to see the grandsons...

Fish the White River. Bull Shoals SP, AR has a marine with boat rentals.

Siri/Google/Good Sam are wrong! Don't go thru Chicago with a trailer!!! Interstate 94 is always under construction and crowded.

Nice company tour in Middlebury, IN. 1:00 PM EST Monday through Thursday. You can tour Imagine, Reflection or Momentum lines.
