Anyone Else Getting Tired of all the Posts being "Moved'??
I get wanting the posts to be in the right category, but when many of the new general discussion posts get "moved" it gets annoying to try to find the topic you wanted to read. How about a duplicate thread in the "category" someone deems it should be, and leave it in the general discussion...

When threads get moved they get moved for better continuity through the forum and also for searching results. We always leave a redirect to the proper loccation and I think all the moderators usually (but not 100% of the time) leave a note . If we leave things where they are posted things tend to get all mixed in and harder to locate when searching.
Duplicate threads take up un necessary data and mess up searches. I can see where it can get frustrating but if plumbing is posted in the general section then it'll get moved and so on. if it is a post that there is a section for post in the genera section and it will not get movedMarcy & Gary

SITE RULES
Posting and Messaging
* Do not engage in personal attacks. Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully. Excessive sarcasm, extreme belligerence, insults, profanity, extreme anger, offensive comments about race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and national origin, are not acceptable.
* Do not post libelous remarks or directly misleading information.
* Stay on topic by keeping discussions relevant and on track.
* Harassment, stalking or predatory behavior will not be tolerated.
* Do not post the same discussion in more than one forum.
* Participants may not post or bump threads to pad post counts. Bumping is posting useless information, posting one-liners or any other action to deliberately keep a thread hot.
* Posts containing explicit, obscene or vulgar language, images or links to websites with adult content/images or punctuation marks designed to "trick" our obscenity filter will be removed.
* Public discussion about moderation or moderator decisions is not allowed. If a moderator deletes or edits one of your posts and you disagree with the action, contact the moderator concerned. Do not repost deleted material.
* NO SPAM! Our user base is not a resource to be "mined" by individuals, groups, or businesses, for profit or not for profit. Participants may not post affiliate links or direct others to any pages at their own commercial website or website in which they have a commercial interest, including informational pages unless a Commercial memberr account has been established and then only as proscribed by the site management.
* Trolling and cyberstalking are NOT allowed and are grounds for account restriction or banishment. Trolling on this board includes posting controversial and often irrelevant or off-topic messages with the intention of (or anticipated result of) baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal, harmonious on-topic discussion, especially when a pattern of such posting is apparent.
* Discussions about politics, weaponry and religion are permitted only in association with the topic of this forum and will be closed or removed if they become disruptive.
* We take the "be nice" rule VERY seriously! We do not tolerate ANY rudeness.
And as WhittleBurner mentioned in the above post, anytime a thread gets moved, there is a redirect to where the thread is now located......usually the redirect lasts for 3 days
So, in summary, if a post is placed in the proper section, it won't get moved. Trust me, we don't move them just to have something to do.Last edited by xrated; 03-17-2024 at 06:30 AM. Reason: added info

There is really no need for me to re-read the site rules. I wasn't questioning the ablity or authority to move posts. However, when 60% of the current General discussion posts have been moved, it does beg the question... Apparently, it doesn't bother anyone else,so it is what it is.

Many times new members will just post what they consider "general" questions on the the General Discussion board. Often, they are, in reality, specific questions. Moving such posts to the specific board for the subject will get more/better responses.
If I have a question, I first head for the specific board that issue would (should?) be addressed on.
