How to remove sink faucet strainer

I want to remove the strainer in the faucet for cleaning. I don't have any kind of tool to remove it. Has anyone had any experience in removing and reinstalling without damaging it?

ID:	50177I bought these on Amazon, says no longer available but I am sure they have other similar.

This is for the inside part. I have never cleaned the spray part except for a pin in a couple of holes

Thanks for that. I have one similar that may have come with the trailer but it doesn't seem to fit. Based on your post I may see what Lowe's or Home Depot has to offer.

I too would like to know for winterizing reasons or in case, someone drops something precious into sink trap.

In my case it was clogged from sediment and almost no water flow.

This won't help for something dropped in the drain, those pipes are below the sink.

I guess I should have called the title aerator. Anyway, I removed the sprayer and disassembled it then soaked all interior parts in vinegar and put it all back together. The lever pops off and the mechanism slides out after removing the set screw. Pro tip, remember how the spacers and washers go back in. The aerator tool Click image for larger version.

My Imagine is older, but the sprayer looks like the picture - the entire plastic insert with the spray holes unscrews from the metal body. The what seems to be the center strainer does not come out, it is just a molded piece of the insert. Soak the plastic in vinegar, then screw back into the metal body.

BTW - I was dumb and tried to warm the vinegar with the plastic piece in it, using the microwave. To speed up dissolving of the mineral build up. Although the vinegar got barely warm, the plastic melted and deformed......it is IMPOSSIBLE to find a replacement, even the "universal" ones noted here from Amazon don't work. So on deck for later this season will be replacing the entire faucet assembly...which also may be a hard-to-find item.....

My faucet looks identical to yours. I was able to twist out the aerator by applying pressure on the small tabs with a flat head screw driver. Lefty loosy righty tighty.
