    50A boondocking

We couldn't find anyone to answer the phone, nor did we see anyone around, to tell us where the free disbursed camping is, so we decided to stay in the campground, which has several pull-thru sites and most have 50A service. The cost is a whopping $20. I think we could have gotten by for $10, since we have the geezer pass, but, as I said, we couldn't find anyone to talk to, so we just paid the $20. Still cheaper (less than 50%) of where we were originally going to stay.

We're at Rob Jagger Campground (BLM) near Capitan, NM for tonight.

You could have just parked where you thought the boondocking was...someone that works for them would have stopped and said something if they came around..

We spent about 4 days all alone in a NF cg in the UP that was about 10 sites, after 3 days a ranger showed up and asked us if anyone else had been there while we were.

New one to me, we'll have to check it out, though can go w/o hookups if not too cold or hot.

Overall, a pretty decent place. I doubt that we actually saved any money, though, since this was off of our route, but we did get to see some of New Mexico that we hadn't seen before.

We prefer to boondock, but when we find a new area, usually on campendium or free campsites, and have concerns where the actual dispersed camping is, we look for fire rings and other indicators like tire tracks, doormat impressions, etc (if there are no other RVs nearby), and set up camp. We haven't had any issues yet!
