Ideas for great SW wintering spot

So we are hitting the road almost a year early and have no place to go.... . Actually, we know a few spots we will stop on the way south but are looking for a place or 3 that would be a great place to kick up our heels for a month or 2 in the SW (AZ, NM, South/West TX).

Our current plans this winter are to steam south to San Diego to see friends. Then off to Palm Springs to see more friends that winter there. From there we will hit Quartzite and then on to Sedona. Need to be in Durango in April for some early season fishing. So between prolly February and April we have no destination and are looking for suggestions.

We have a long summer/fall/winter trip planned next year along the northern states to Maine then down the eastern seaboard to Florida and are a bit too late to kick it off this year.

    Thanks in advance all!

I'll suggest Lake Havasu, AZ, particularly Havasu Springs Resort. But I'm biased.

Try Kartchner Caverns in Benson, Az. about 40 miles east of Tucson, Az on I-10. You can stay 14 days at a time. If you are going to stay you need to book in advance. The Caverns are amazing and need to be booked separate.

Being biased doesn't invalidate your obvious #1 choice! . It's a fine one and one we kicked around a bit.

Forgot that Tucson is on the list "meet friends list" as well so Katchner Caverns sounds great! A bit of spelunking is always good for the soul!

Can you get a 40' trailer in there?

Yes, they have pull through sites. Check the website. I used to go spelunking there in the 70's before anyone knew about the place!
