    Slide problem

Our Solitude S Class has had perfect slide operation until now. When we returned from our most recent trip, the living room slide (booth/lounger) would not go out, it only clicked. We used the tool to manually open the slide and extended it about an inch and then the slide went out as usual. Everything was level before we tried to extend, in order to unload the trailer. We put the slide in again, and same thing, it would not go out until we gave it a nudge with the slide crank tool. What could be causing this and how do we correct it?

Possible motor, voltage or maybe alignment issues. Might be worth having a tech look at it. If within warranty would take it to dealer service.

The required amps are probably high on the initial startup and movement from a closed position similar to HVAC AC.

If I'm not mistaken, your S Class has electric slides. The batteries must be fully charged in order to operate the slides. Make sure the battery disconnect switch didn't get accidentally knocked to the "Off" position. The converter-charger often doesn't have enough oomph to operate the slides on its own.

Thanks, Rob, the weird thing is that the other slides all work fine, itís just one. And when we crank it out just a bit it works again. We are plugged in at home base with 50 amp power. Itís a 2021 year model.

It coudl still be the battery because the convertor can not supply enough current to operate the slide at initial startup. Is this your heaviest slide because that one would need the most current on startup? If not it could be the motor clutch starting to go. I had this on a Rockwood trailer with electric slides.

Symptoms sound very much like an actuator problem. But for sure make sure your battery is good and fully charged. The actuator is the tube (so to speak) that the motor attaches to that actually moves the slide. The clicking is from the clutch inside the motor/gearbox assy when the slide is too hard to move or at end of travel. I think they are about $400 so check the basics like battery and switch connections first and call GD if warrantable.
Under your trailer it looks something like this (that price is in CAD)

Have you checked the adjustment nuts under the slide since you own it?

They may loosen up and then allow the slide to come in to far when retracted (or hyper extend).

That would allow the gear box to ratchet, as though it is fully extended or retracted.

Lots of YouTube videos on how to adjust Lippert through frame slide out mechanisms.

You may have to resink the motor. You need to run it in and out 3 times. I think its in the manual
