    Bad odor

    GD313RLTS
Rotten egg/sewage smell near front of trailer happens intermittently. It comes and goes so im guessing its an air lock/vent leak and not an actual leak. REALLY strong when front storage is open. Very random and sometimes goes away when trailer is moved to new campground or goes away after a day or two after showing up. Owned several TTs and ive never had this happen. GD nor dealer really has any advise.

Are you getting any air bubbles or gurgles when you flush?

Check under your sinks if the smell is worse there. It could be the AAV. Here is a link to help you out started by the very knowledgeable Tuscon Jim: http://www.mygrandrv.com/for...mittance+valve

Ok thx ill check the sink area. I dont recall any bubbles when flushing. A while back it was happing after traveling with my roof vents open. I thought maybe this was creating a vacuum while driving but i make sure they are closed now and its still happening.

THANKS!!! Bought 2 new vents from lowes. I think that was the problem. One of the under sink vents from the factory didnt even have parts in it!!! Im not bashing GD but they are par for the course just like the rest of the companies. Problems straight from the factory and no quality control. DVD Player just quit as well. However customer service has been great so far.

Having had trouble with the air emitters in other campers (had to tape them up until I could get new ones) I changed mine out before our first trip and I had trouble. Nothing worse than having to live with that stink inside the camper! The RV manufacturers use the cheapest they can get. Both of the ones from the GD factory had black plastic shavings stuck under the diaphragm and we not sealing so they would have been a stinky problem for sure. Replaced with Studor Redi Vents $13 each from Amazon.

In case anyone else happens upon this thread, the parts are called Air Admittance Valves and they are used in lieu of a vent to the roof. They work wonderfully when they function. Evidently, GD and others tend to use a very inexpensive version and they fail from time to time. The ones I purchased from Lowes have worked fine, and it's very rare to hear of a failure when similar quality units are used in housing applications.
