    Generator choices

Just sold my Honda EU3000i, was just to heavy to handle. I was looking at replacing it with 2 honda EU2000 with parallel kit, but my curiosity has been peaked by the Smarter Tools 2000iq with parallel. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this product?

Wow it has the yamaha motor. It is the same engine as the Yamaha 2000 generator, and the noise level is 51db.
I see it is sold through Costco at a great price. I would be inclined to try it out.
Their web site said the run time at half load is 8 hrs on 1.1 gallons of fuel.

No experience with the Smarter Tools gennie but I had a pair of Yami 2ks and dearly loved them. Ran quiet, clean and put out plenty of juice for my needs. Motor will last forever in those. If the Smarter Tools are anywhere near as good they are a bargain for that price.

The Yami's were stolen out of my snowmobile trailer and I replaced them with a 3k Honda. It was a sad day indeed!

Have been doing lots of research and I keep coming back to the Smarter Tools. I will be pulling the triger on this today thru Amazon. Honda and Yamaha 2k generators are a lot of dough fot something that will be used only a few times a year. Thanks for the input on this Chris and Jeff, I will let you know how they work out.

It's hard to beat Honda, and Yamaha for the low DB they put out. Very high quality portable generators. Never heard of smarter tools, might be good stuff. Let us know what you end up buying.

Our new Solitude came with the onboard generator prep completed. WOW the cost of built in generators is phenomenal. Does anyone have a lead on better priced generators or any thoughts about the wisdom of buying used?

I have the two Honda 2000I with the parallel kit, it works great only puts out about 30 amps though, but it is good enough for what I need to run. They have been very reliable had them about five years now.

Ran out to storage to test out the new Smarter Tools 2000iq generators. Set up both generators with parallel cables and got them started, plugged in 30 Amp plug and turned on13500 btu ac unit. Both generators kicked in and powered it up no problem. Let it run for a few minutes and then turned microwave on, put a bit more load but held fine, let it run a few more minutes then added lights and TV with no issues. I am very satisfied with performance and noise level.

Curious as to how you plugged in 30amp as it looks to me like only 2 20amp receptacles on Genny. Also, how much was the parallel cable. These guys are only pull start correct

James, They are pull start only, 1 or 2 pulls does the trick. The parallel cable has a 30 amp plug built in and cost about 60 bucks. Bought all thru Amazon.
