Spare Tire Lowering Hole Not In Right Place
Momentum 348M
Well..... I was looking at my spare tire lowering speed wrench, and was thinking of getting a socket for the cordless drill to lower the spare tire. Looking in the hole in the curb side slide, where the wrench goes, I could see an electrical wire loom, and the bottom of the floor. ??? It ends up being above the floor of the slide.
Looking under the slide, I found out that the exterior hole is not in the right place. Mmmm....
After measuring I find that it is four inches too high, and three inches towards the rear of the trailer, from where it should be.
So the hole for the lowering the tire is useless now. Glad I found out now, and not out on the highway!!

Hi Jeff,
Same situation on our Reflection! Not as far out as yours but definitely does not line up. I contacted GD and they were very willing to send me a new skirt piece with the hole in the right place. But, we have a paint protection package on everything, so that replacement gets complicated. I can get a power driver on to the spare tire lowering drive with the slide in . . . which is what I would do anyway . . . so I am going forget about the mis-aligned manual crank hole. I wonder how many have even looked at this ? Better to figure it out now than on the side of the road, in the dark, in the rain .

Hi Jeff
mine was also ff from where it should be. I did not realize it for 1yr. I work around it with a socket and extension bar and that works fine. This has been probably the worst problem I have had with our solitude so I am very happy! And it's not really a problem it was just sloppy workmanship on somebody's part. But all in all a great product.Kim and Bill

On mine, they forgot to put the hole in the skirt altogether. They put a new fender on when it went back to the factory last February.

Our 27RL has the same issue. Not as far off as the OP but enough that the supplied extension wrench will not work. I take a speed wrench with me.

You need to tighten the slide adjustment nuts on the slide out ram. They are loose and will either not push the slide out enough or pull it in enough.

I got to looking at ours last night, the flat we developed on the truck got me to thinking about getting to the the spare on the trailer and I hadn't looked until yesterday. There is no hole in the skirt on ours either. The winch crank point is on the street-side. I think I'm going to bring the slide in to where it almost contacts, mark it, and then drill it from the inside-out through the skirt using a hole saw. I'll put some sort of protectant on the edges of the hole.
