    Rob,

I was going to work on my dimmer switches today. I have tried them both, the lights come on but are very dim and they don't adjust brightness at all with the switch. Bad switches or what am I doing wrong? Thanks.

    Hi Anthony,

There are only four connections to the dimmer unit.
+12V (red)and ground (black) coming in and similarly + and - going to the LEDs.
Since GD uses unconventional wire colours, I would guess that you have the polarity backwards.
Switch the incoming wires and try it.
Then switch the outgoing wires and try it.
Then switch the incoming wires back to original position.
This should cover all possible combinations . . . and one should work.

Just saw your pictures of the wires from the wall . . .
Not knowing where they attached on the original switch makes this a little more difficult.
    First question . . . Is there a 4th wire ?

Only 3 wires, two of them were into the same spade on the orginal switch, they both have white on them, the plain orange was by itself. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it was.

Looking at that switch . . . since it looks to be configured for a standard 120 VAC box . . . are you sure it is a 12 VDC dimmer ?

This is going to get complicated, because it looks like the original wiring switches only the +12V with the negative side of the LEDs going to ground by some other wire routing. Where is this switch, in relation to the main wiring panel. If you can follow the Orange wire back to where it pairs up with ground from the lights (possibly behind the main panel?) we might still be able to make this work.
