Description is of a 12 VDC dimmer . . . Should work if negative to the light fixtures can be found.

So if the two orange wires touch, the light turns on. I have tried several configuration and haven't found the right one.

    Hi Anthony,

This is enough to to sort this out and make it work the way you want to !
Do you have a digital volt meter ?

One paired wire is power and ground.
One paired wire goes to the LED lights you want to dim.
One paired wire goes on to some other fixture or light.
The white wires that all go together are the ground wires .
More to follow, if you have a voltmeter . . .

    I don't have a voltmeter, just a power tester.

I figured out that the one wire goes on to the closet light. Sometimes the switch I am trying to hook up, switches the closet light off and on

OK, let's figure this out with the info we have . . .

Put all 3 exposed wires together. Both ceiling lights and closet lights should come on.
Remove one wire at a time from the 3.
When all lights go out, that is the power wire. When just the closet light goes out that is the closet. When just the ceiling light goes out that is the ceiling. Label these three paired wires. Leave the power and closet wires connected.

Cut the white wire from the ceiling that goes into the 3 wire connector, about 1 1/2 inches from the connector.
Make dimmer switch connections as follows:
Red In to the connected power and closet orange wires.
Black In to the white wire going into the 3 wire connector.
Red Out to the ceiling orange.
Black Out to the ceiling white.

Test before making these electrical connections permanent . . . but this should work.
