    Light dimmers

Has anyone put dimmers on interior lights? What about the awning lights?

If so, do you mind sharing where you found the dimmers and some details?

I did install a dimmer for the awning LED strip. LEDs need a pulse width modulator (PWM) type of dimmer, which is available at electronic component stores as a DC motor speed controller. I posted the following on another thread, a while ago. You can use the forum search function in the upper right corner to find other ideas by searching on key words.

I was reading that the leds have to be dimmable leds, how can you tell that they are or is that not a big issue?

LEDs are either on or off. The way they are "dimmed" is by turning them on and off at a high frequency and then varying the time they are on vs the time they are off. I have put PWM dimmers on a variety of different 12V LED circuits without a problem. Some house LED lighting comes with the PWM built into the transformer that brings the 120 VAC down to 12 VDC for the LEDs. I have never found a 12 VDC "LED dimmer" (other than the PWM motor speed controllers) but, there is probably one out there somewhere.

Any of those should work . . . the wireless one is a clever solution . . . no additional wall switch to add.
